As Summer Comes to an End… Normality Returns ☀️🥛

It happens every year.

One minute we’re complaining that it’s too hot, searching for the coolest room in the house and wondering whether 7am is too early for an ice cream.

Then suddenly, the evenings start drawing in, the children are getting ready to go back to school and someone mentions that dreaded word…

Christmas. 🎄😳

Yes, summer is slowly coming to an end, and for many of us, normal service resumed. Normality is about to return. The familiar routines are set to follow.

And, if we’re completely honest, at Doorstep Deliveries we’re rather looking forward to it!

Summer is a strange time for a milkman

Summer holidays are wonderful.

Unless, of course, you’re trying to work out how much milk to order.

During July and August our delivery rounds become something of a giant guessing game.

“We’re away for two weeks.”

“Can you stop us until the 18th?”

“Actually, we’re coming home early.”

“Can you restart us on Friday?”

“We’ve decided to stay another week.”

Meanwhile, somewhere in the background, a milkman is staring at his order sheet wondering whether he needs 200 pints or 2,000. 😂

But that’s summer, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

September brings back the routine

As schools reopen and people return to work, life begins to settle down again.

Alarm clocks are switched back on.

Lunchboxes reappear.

Traffic gets worse.

And the fridge once again needs to contain enough milk to get everybody through breakfast!

For us, it also means our delivery rounds start returning to normal.

And that really does make a difference.

Regular orders help us plan our milk supplies, organise our rounds and keep our traditional doorstep delivery service running efficiently.

Running a doorstep delivery business isn’t quite as simple as loading a van with milk and driving off into the night.

There are vans to maintain, fuel to buy, refrigeration to run, suppliers to pay and, most importantly, milkmen who somehow manage to drag themselves out of bed while most sensible people are still fast asleep.

Every regular order matters.

Whether it’s two pints of semi-skimmed, a loaf of bread and half a dozen eggs, or enough milk to keep a small army supplied with tea, your order helps keep the milkman on the road.

So, as normality returns, perhaps it’s a good time to have another look at your regular order.

Could you use an extra pint?

Some eggs for the weekend?

Bread for breakfast?

Or perhaps one of the other products we can conveniently leave on your doorstep?

You don’t need to make a special journey.

Summer may be disappearing, but there are plenty of good things about the months ahead.

Sunday roasts.

Hot puddings.

Big mugs of tea.

Dark evenings on the sofa.

And opening your front door in the morning to find your milk already waiting for you.

That’s one tradition we’re very happy to keep alive.
